St. Trinian’s

Ratingno stars

Zero comic timing, pathetic scripting and a worrying inability to direct and edit scenes to even a basic professional standard. It’s really hard to recommend this film because anyone over the age of 10 will find it immature and boring. But it’s not even a good film for children since it’s basically an excuse to gaze at Gemma Arterton and her co-stars dressed as slutty schoolgirls……ok, the one element of the film I enjoyed.

Strong performers like Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Steven Fry, and Russell Brand are all wasted with a script that gives them very little to do. The plot is so generic and dull it’s not even worth describing. Also, directors Oliver Parker and Barnaby Thompson seem incapable of creating any tension or emotion. They’ve shot the most boring heist scene ever. Basically this is not even a proper film. It’s a tired and amateur modern re-hash of a once loved series. Ronald Searle, creator of the original funny and dark St Trinians cartoons will be rolling in his grave.
