Thought provoking, honest, and surprisingly funny. Persepolis is an autobiographical animation charting the struggles of Marjane Satrapi a young Iranian girl through the 80’s and early 90’s. After a slightly sombre and almost pretentious start, the film quickly becomes engrossing. Although it lacks any climax to speak of (this is only Marjane’s early life) this is still a rewarding, and original experience.
