The very definition of an average film. It ticks off all the boxes in the “how to construct a clichéd yet entertaining screenplay” guidebook. The card counting sequences are well executed with snappy visual effects and editing. Kevin Spacey is hardly stretching himself with this performance but it’s always nice to see him onscreen. Jim Sturgess is a likable lead and Kate Bosworth is as lovely as ever. Worth watching, but just catch it on TV in a few years.
